Ayurveda= System of healing with roots in ancient India
Ayur (life) // Veda (wisdom or study)
ey there, yogis! ! I’m Susannah Burley and I couldn’t be more excited to join the tribe at Yoga Garden PBO as the Social Media/Communications Intern. Since I’m new to the studio, I wanted to take a second to introduce myself.
I’m currently a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I study Communication and Women’s and Gender Studies. In Communication Studies, I learn all about how people communicate both interpersonally and at work. As for Women’s and Gender Studies, I get to learn all about different forms of oppression and the social justice approaches to combat these issues.
Based on my studies, I hope you can see that I’m extremely interested in activism, and I look forward to incorporating an advocacy aspect into my work at Yoga Garden PBO. I can’t wait to find more ways that the studio can help give back to the local community.
I’ll be managing the studio’s social media accounts, so if you’re interested in learning more about us, please reach out! I’d love to hear from you. We are currently trying to build more of an online community and interact with other yogis out there, so if this sounds like something you would like, we encourage you to log on and get involved!
As for my own experiences with yoga, I started practicing when I was a senior in high school. In my hometown, there wasn’t a studio I could go to, so my practice started online with Youtube videos. While this wasn’t what I had in mind for my yogic initiation, practicing in my bedroom was a comfortable way to transition into yoga. That being said, at Yoga Garden PBO, we offer classes open to all levels so you can feel at ease while starting your practice, regardless of previous yogic experience! I am excited to practice at the studio, now that I live closer to Pittsboro!
Thanks for checking out my introductory post! If you have any questions about the studio or our social media, please feel free to contact me online! We can’t wait to hear from you.
