Long Slow Deep with Deanna

Long Slow Deep (sometimes) known as LSD in the yoga community, sequences focus on floor postures designed to open the hips, create space and length for the spine and take us into the most peaceful part of our mind. It compliments the busy lifestyle we live today – we’re used to being so “busy” during our workouts and in yoga practice that going slower can be helpful in getting us to quiet our minds and bodies.

As the name suggests, LSD sequence is delivered over a longer period of time. The combination of deep stretching poses are held for longer duration (usually 2-3 minutes), giving the massive areas of the body such as hamstrings, groin, hips, back, etc more time to release. Props can be used throughout the class to support the body, although LSD is not a restorative class. LSD is great for those who have injuries that prevent them participating in faster style (eg power, vinyasa) classes.
